SUMMER BABES

So it's been awhile since I have updated this, sorry! I have been super busy at work, but it's been awesome. This morning I taught a balayage class at work which was really fun and I just wanted to share a little bit about it... a lot of my clients want really low maintenance color, but still want to stay blonde. This creates a bit of a dilemma when your natural hair color is super dark and you want to be blonde and not have to come back to the salon to highlight every 6 or 8 weeks or so. What I would suggest is that we do balayage. It's a technique where the highlights are painted on and not foiled and it has a really nice natural growout. It is a more root-y look which helps while hair is growing out so you don't have such a solid line. This is a picture of my model Sarah Evans (She's also one of the owners of Prototype, check out their website or facebook it's an awesome store!! Facebook.com/prototypevintage or prototypevintagedesign.com)

We do a base color on Sarah to lighten it up a bit and then balayage right on top. It just looks really natural and I love the worn in feel to it. It's great to do if you were super blonde when you were little and your blondes pop out in the summer time but you want to give them an extra nudge.
There are a lot of different variations. You can do super dark roots and light ends, you can do a caramel or honey color on brown hair, you can do a really natural honey blonde... and tons and tons more... here are a few examples of some different variations...

Hopefully this has helped you in choosing what type of highlights are best for you! Now that it's getting to be summertime this is a good way to lighten up!

Here's a little video I made from the Bleachonline.com photo shoot we did... I originally used it as an entry for the Kevin Murphy contest, but I was only allowed to upload one video, be sure to check out my other video and vote if you get a chance too, thanks! Here's the link...

See you all at the salon soon!!
